Hey, I'm Katie. And I'm Cake. Is it gonna stay Cake and Cookies? No. No, okay. I hate the name Cake and Cookies. You wanna bring that up to Mike? You know, Mike O'Mara named this podcast. He's very forgiving. I have pants that are like that. I think, yeah, they're plastic. No, no, that's not what I meant. Elastic. Elastic, exactly. Wow, yeah, I was meant for this. So, for now, it's called Cake and Cookies, a brand new podcast offered to you on a weekly basis to make you feel a little bit better about your life. I'm Cookie. And I'm Cake. The thing that, it's amazing, you would think after all this year, all these years, we'd have more wisdom. We'd be smarter. Wisdom. Wisdom is something we lack, but. We might be wise asses. But we don't have wiz-dom. First of all, I have to start by thanking Mike O'Mara and Oscar Santana, and everybody at Moore Broadcasting, Mike O'Mara Radio Entertainment, for letting us have this little weekly junket. We appreciate it. And you get a podcast, and you get a podcast, and you get a podcast. Because, Katie, that's our motto, EGAP. Do we have to pay the taxes? Everybody gets a podcast. Everybody gets a podcast. We are broadcasting live from the Rob Radio World Broadcast Headquarters. It's quite the place here. And we should start by introducing ourselves, because I'm hoping that some people coming on board are just coming on board because they're saying, hey, what is this, a cooking show? No. No, but my name is Rob Spiewak. I have been. We like to eat. We do like to eat. I have been in the Washington, D.C. radio game for over 20 years. Currently employed at the Mike O'Mara Show, the number one comedy podcast in the world, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm a married, happily married, yes, let's say that, father of two. I own a dog. I live in Leesburg, Virginia. And we are currently broadcasting from my basement. Now, Katie, tell us a little bit about yourself. My name is Katie. I will go by Cookie. No, I've been. We first met. Let it go, girl. I know, I know. We first met in 1999. Has it been that long? It has been that long. Wow. I was quite the young buck in the radio world, but that's where we met. Young and hungry. Always. Where's the cake? Again with the cake. I hate cake. But we met at the Mighty WJFK. We sure did. I didn't believe that your real last name was Spiwak, and you did not like me. I did not like you? I can't imagine that. Because I didn't believe that your name was Spiwak, and I said, what is that? How did you come up with that? You made that up like Spooge, and you were mad. Well, I mean, how should I take that? How was I supposed to know that Spiwak was a real last name? Can't you think that if I was going to invent a DJ name, I would come up with something better than Spiwak? I didn't know you that well. I suppose not, but I already bought the jingle, so I was stuck with it. I would hope so. You're kind of stuck. Kind of stuck with it. It's so much easier to keep the name once you have the jingle. So you've been in the radio game for quite a while yourself. You're not currently doing the radio thing. Nope, nope, nope, but I am twice married. Good for you. On my second one. I think you remember the first one. Yes, I do. Good guy, not the right guy. Might be right for someone else. Possibly, I would hope so. He just got married like two weeks ago. Hey, congratulations. Congratulations. I'm gonna send him one of those brand new cake and cookies t-shirts. No, they're good. They're great people. They're just not... Anyways, so yeah, I have two dogs. Yes, and their names? Presley. Right. And Judd. Exactly. My dog is named Linus. My wife's name is Dan. Your wife's name is Dan. My husband's name is Dan. And now what's your wife's name? Well, I mean, if you're going with like the sister wives, I did invite my sister and her dog to move in with us. So your house is almost like a commune. You have three dogs, three people, the husband, Dan, and the sister, and her name is? Odaina. Very good. And is she a permanent resident? Well, here's the thing about that. I thought it was gonna be for a few months. Right. And then I saw on Facebook, she posted something about, yeah, hey, I'm out here in Northern Virginia, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Any friends are in the area? Hit me up, let's hang out. And someone writes back, hey, I didn't know you moved to Virginia. I'm in DC. How long are you gonna be around? And she wrote, probably a couple years till I get things. Couple years? I didn't even read the rest of the note. It was a short, a couple. So I think we're in for the long haul, Rob. Wow, and that's the first you heard of that, her intention to actually. You know, ideally, we would have discussed it first. One would think. One would think. One would think, but now it's gone from a brief stay to a, now she's a member of your voting district. She's going to be there for a while. Driver's license gonna look like mine. She's a little sister, though, younger. She's much younger. Okay, much younger. Okay. I am 13 years older than she is. And you are 13 inches tall. No, she is. Thanks, Rob. I'm not a smurf. No, you know, you're but wee and small. How many apples tall are you? Like four and a half. Four and a half apples tall. Yeah. No, but you are, you actually, if anyone can think back to when we did the Don and Mike show, you were known as Katie the Pixie. I was, I was. And as we, when we started to stop hating each other, I don't guess you ever hated me. No, no. Apparently I hated you. No, I. Because you said my name was spooked. I think it might've lasted like 10 minutes. You were, you ran the dump button. And then I said something about Carole King and you're like, wow, she's so cool. Even though I'm not. Well, no, you are cool. And Carole King is cool. Yeah, cool. But you ran the dump button. That was your primary job. And kept us on the air and kept our license safe. But I do think that on part of the level was like you guys were just like on a natural scale of things because I ran the dump button. Right. And because I had to oftentimes sort of direct the direction of where you were going. You determined what would go out on the air. Yes, I think that on some level there was a bit of an animosity between myself and some other people. I see the talent never would have warm feelings towards those that were the censors. You may have liked me despite my position. Well, there you go. And you know what? I think that speaks very well of me. When you come out with those hateful words and made fun of me. A lot of people don't know this, but WJFK was a bully free zone. Oh, yes, absolutely. I don't put up with any of that nonsense. Nobody ever said anything but kind things to me. You know, we had the motto, it's where your friends are. It's where your friends are. And that's- It was just like cheers. Where everybody knows your name. So I think it speaks well of us as people that we're able to get past that. And now here we are doing a podcast because that's what everybody does. And speaking of friendly environments, can I point out like how awesome your basement is? Well, thank you very much. I mean, you even got like a cozy fire in the corner. Yeah, and it's a fake fireplace. It's controlled by a toggle switch. It's just, you know, it's a, what do you call it? Run by propane. Wait a minute, you mean it's like a TV? No, no, no, it's actual fire. Oh, okay. I think it is. No, it is. It looks so real. It is. It's one of the new TVs. It's a curved TV. I'm sorry. No, it is a gas, it's a gas fireplace. So I can turn it on, turn it off with the flip of a switch. And I like it because this room is cold because I don't know how to make my thermostat make the house right everywhere. Well, I mean, it is, I mean, it's not underground. No, it's not a subterranean basement. It's really just the first level. It's just the first level. But when you're in a townhouse type thing, I know Dan and I just moved out of a townhouse. There was no way to get the top floor in the same sort of comfort level as the bottom floor. This happens mostly in the summertime because the heat rises. Oh, that was the worst. So the basement can be very temperate and the bedrooms are red hot. And then usually somewhere in the kitchen, there's a thunderstorm because the two masses of air actually, they collide and it's very tough. So what we do- We should talk to Tony Perkins about this. What we do- How did this happen? What we do is- It's raining in my kitchen. The tile is peeling. Why? Because of frequent rainstorms right by the microwave. Spot, just spots of rain. We basically try to keep the basement warm using the fireplace. It makes perfect sense. Now, can I- Yes, please. May I please- What you should do- I'm gonna turn around here. We are not yet doing the use stream thing. So you have to use the power of description to tell what our surroundings are. It is quite an interesting basement here. Thank you. I said interesting. I said, thank you. I'll take it. All right. You could have said, this place looks like crap. No, no, no, no, no, no. The thing is, is one's eye does not know exactly where to land. I see. And there are a few things that just off the top of just a quick glance around here. Right. There are a few things that just sort of stick out. Now you would say, if we were using proper feng shui, there would be a focal point to the room. There's no feng shui in here. I wouldn't know where to start. And a focal point, I mean, the focal point would be the television that is, how flipping big is that television? That's a pretty big TV. Th
