washington and uh i was going to arrange for carrie to try to pick her up because she's flying into
dulles airport which is not far from my home not far at all and so we worked that out but because we
were recording a couple extra shows to prepare for the inauguration i was incommunicado so the first
thing i did when i was leaving the city is i texted uh carrie the no the group text oh the group
text how did it go can you give us a recap yeah i'm scrolling back yes okay here we go
so uh texting has changed so many things in people's lives but i think one of the most
important things it's done is i don't know how we used to pick up people at airports so you sent
the group text i'm leaving the city be home soon this is at 1 55 p.m and i was expecting cheers all
around and carrie responds yes this is a group text between myself my wife katie and her and her wife
and my husband dan dan dan dan what time does her flight get in i've been waiting for her to text
okay now this troubled me immediately because i knew that your text came in at about
12 05 right and so what did i reply
well no that was from carrie right and so when you when i heard that you hadn't uh that carrie had
not been in touch with you right i was bothered immediately you look through these all right
so all right so carrie writes to me what time does her flight get in i've been waiting for her to text
and i actually had your flight arrangements yes so i wrote should be 12 07 carrie says oh well
and i replied hmm and that's when you texted me separately right where are you and i got no reply
initially then dan von herman writes 12 07 sounds right it was united flight 48 11 if anyone has one
of those flight tracker apps i'm at the store and can't download one without wi-fi so now that's the
first thought of my the first time it crosses my mind that something horrible has happened well yeah
because why would you suggest tracking flight unless you're somewhere perhaps lost over the
atlantic well you know it could happen and then um you you texted back to me you're in my kitchen
yes i texted back to you directly right when you texted me where are you i texted back i'm in your
kitchen so i replied to the group she's in our kitchen guess she didn't need that ride and then
carrie says to the group text to the group text this is where carrie really starts pissing me off
i'll leave the dogs and drive around the airport it's reagan right now reagan for those of you
30 miles from dollars right it's in the middle of washington dc carrie waited long enough for me to
be out of the city to mention that it was reagan airport that was actually planned of course it was
