My electric bill keeps creeping up every month this summer.

You know what, Mike?

We hear that from Florida homeowners all the time.

Renewal by Anderson's energy-efficient replacement windows can help reduce heat transfer,

improving comfort and lowering energy costs.

Nice.

And you've got some end-of-the-summer savings happening?

That's right.

This month only, buy four windows or doors and get the fifth free,

plus 12-month special financing.

Just go to bestwindowsflorida.com to schedule your free in-home design consultation

to claim these savings.

Restrictions apply.

License number CGC 1527613.

Mike O'Mara, Radio Entertainment.

Hey there, this is Katie with a very hateful thought of the day.

I hate people who can sleep anywhere at any time.

You know, the ones who can fall asleep sitting up with the TV blaring,

six kids yelling and two dogs humping in the corner?

Those people are special.

These are the same folks who look at you like you're speaking another language

at the mere mention of insomnia.

And they seem as if they just had a refreshing glass of lemonade at all times.

I hate sound sleepers.

And you.

I hate you too.

Good?

Is that our music?

I was just dozing over here.

Kidding.

I know that you're not.

Well, you might be now, but.

Well, no, no.

It was good.

I liked it.

Dog something in the corner is funny.

I know.

Let us take a pause.

I wonder what kind of noise they make.

Eee.

Oh.

But I know that the corner would amplify it.

It's simple acoustics.

If you stand like two thirds across the room, it's like being in a concert hall.

You get the bounce back echo.

Eee.

Cake and cookies.

Rob and Katie.

It's the Rob and Katie show.

And we both went.

Eee.

It is the cake and the cookies, the CNC podcast factory.

First of all, hi, Steve Marmelstein.

Hi, Steve.

Hello, Steve.

It was revealed on this week's AmeriCast that we are not only his favorite show, but he has

chosen his favorite host of this show.

It was revealed on this week's AmeriCast that we are not only his favorite show, but he has chosen his favorite host of this show. It's got to be me. I came in second. I knew it. It's a weekly podcast. I mean, seriously, did you think that when that road started to be gone? No, I mean, it was done. It was pre-determined. It was pre-determined, I suppose. Yeah, it was like, did you ever read a choose your own adventure book? You knew. It was kind of like when you were flipping through and you saw an ending you liked and you worked backwards from there. Yeah. I don't know. I ended up in a lava pit. With Katie. With Katie. We died together. We jumped in. Holding hands. We held hands, ate bagels, and jumped in the lava pit. With locks. She likes locks. Lover pit. The lava pit. I will be in touch. Do you know what? I've not taken the moment to write back to Steve Marmolstein. Oh, he wrote to you. Yeah, he said that he's ready to do the promo. Oh, I really want him to do a promo. Allow this to be my reply because I'm much too busy to write. Let's go ahead and start it. Dear Steve. No, no. Don't you start it. What? Because it'll put him in the wrong... Oh, oh. I apologize. Maybe he's driving. Steve, it's me. It's me. It's me, Rob Spiewak. I'm on my way to D.C. With my stern stentorian voice. I just put Leesburg into my GPS and I'll be there in 15 hours. Leave the door unlocked. Just pop open the garage door. That's how I come in. Steve, we're on. We're on like Donkey Kong. I'll write you some copy. You're just going to have to trick Marcus into it. He can write his own copy. Write him some copy. I'll write him some copy. Okay. It is Cake and Cookies, a weekly podcast to show by way of comparison that your life is not that bad. Our thanks, as always, to Mike O'Mara, Oscar Santana, and everybody at More Broadcasting, including the forgetful but delightful Tony Bloom. Tony Bloom. Remember... Matt Bloom. Matt Bloom. Matthew Bloom. And, of course, my buddy Steve Bridges. Check us out on Facebook or check us out on Facebook. That's facebook.com slash robincatie. Twitter at robincatie. Or, of course, on iTunes. Best way to do it, do more broadcasting. And then just click on us and leave us a five-star review. Can I tell you a couple things about Matthew Bloom? Oh, oh, one thing. Yes. Before you do that, if you want to listen to us on the go. On the go, that's right. And that's the best way because... On the go, go, go. Active people set a template for the active podcast listener. It's... Let's say active in the brain. Well, let's say you have an hour and a half to kill between Pilates and I don't know. Why not listen to it during Pilates? No, it's really not a Pilates type thing. I don't think. Uh, treadmill? Maybe treadmill. Mm-hmm. Or maybe between workouts. Exercise bike? Go to the app store for either Apple or I guess it would be the Android platform, the Google Play store, and search Mike O'Mara Show. We're featured on the TMOS app. Driving in your car, riding on a bike? Sure. On a skateboard? Mm-hmm. Skiing? Uh... Or as they say in Great Britain, she-ing? Saw a girl about Julia's age. Yeah. Driving on my way in here. She wasn't driving, I hope. No, no. I was driving. Okay. I saw her. Okay. And, uh, she was walking a dog. Yes. Whilst riding a skateboard. Now, was that really walking or using the dog as a beast of burden? Well, I feel it's dangerous no matter what. Well, you know, my father, darn near- He almost killed him, wrecked himself. Yeah. He did not check himself. And instead nearly wrecked himself and it didn't have anything to do with the dog. Definitely. Because it took it to the next level. He was, it was a long, it was a big skateboard. I remember this. He bought a longboard skateboard. And he was being pulled. Now, why and how he talked his very sensible wife into doing this with him? I have no problem understanding why my dad did it. If I have, okay, first of all, one, your family has had a remarkable amount of golf cart incidents. Well, I mean, not many families own a golf cart. And two- That's the key ingredient in having a golf cart incident. If I ever hurt someone or said, I don't know, tried to kill my family with a golf cart, I don't know that I could ever forgive myself. Well, no, nobody ever tries to have the incidents. You did. No. I mean, you didn't try to, but you almost killed him. I almost killed my family. But can we talk about your father? Yes. Let's get back to that. He was being pulled using- Golf cart. Yeah. Discarded. He owns a boat as well. I don't want to pay people- Were they drinking? They were not. Well, no. They weren't drinking then. They probably drank. I'd say that the idea was probably born out of drinking. Mm-hmm. And I'm sure they drank after, but not during. That wouldn't be safe. And I don't want to give the impression- Wait, wait, wait. Just back yourself up one second. I understand. Okay. What do you think is safe about- How old was he at the time? I don't want to give the impression- In his 50s, right? I don't want to give the impression that my father is like a Rockefeller. He has a small boat. Okay, but no. He has a golf cart to get to him from the boat. Stop for one moment. How old was he when this happened? He was born in 1951, so he was probably close to 60, if not 60. And he decided to have his wife pull him behind a golf cart- Yes. And this is what I understand- On a longboard skateboard as if he is, what, asphalt skiing? And he was- And this is the thing. He was using discarded boat ropes. Because at the end of the season, the ropes that are used to anchor the boat to the pier- Right. Or the dock or- Because they get wet. And they ride. Yeah. But you don't want to throw them away. You might need them if you're going to do a skateboard trick. Throw behind your golf cart. Sure, you need 40 feet of this heavy, wet, blue rope. And so there's actually pictures of him before the accident. He looks like he's having a great time. Oh, I'm sure. But he- Before the accident. He took a turn for the worse. I don't know. Maybe he didn't read a turn right. I don't know. The whole thing was sort of dicey. There might have been some torque. Yeah, there was a torque issue, maybe. Not enough RPMs. Too many RPMs. Centrifugal force. And you see, his wife is so sensible. And I just don't understand- Clearly. But it's so out of character. They both are. It's very- I'm sorry. The fly just came over again. Yeah, there's a fly in here. I'm sorry about this. Brundlefly is his name. If you ever saw that popular. And did you know the movie The Fly, The Jeff Goldblum Fly- Can we stick to this store? Yes. Was produced by Mel Brooks? No, I didn't. It was. Jesus. There you go. So his wife, and that's why this is so marvelously out of character. She is so sensible. And you wouldn't think that if he came- One time, she has a lapse in sensibility. And why would- She nearly kills her husband. And you know what? I guarantee you this- I say that like twice a week. This is how- I'm sure it went down. He went to her and he says, Kathy, why don't you drive the golf cart? She is sensible. Yes. Even, like, she's just delightful and- Why would he even think that this would be a valid option? How he talked her into it? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. You know, he just bought a motorcycle. She's on board for that, too. Is she riding on the back? You know what? Maybe she's a chick with a thing for wheels. Who knows? But I don't know. So he came up to her and said, I'm going to stand on the skateboard and you're going to pull me. Don't worry. I'll be holding on with this discarded boat rope. Okay. Maybe the rope burned his hand. It could be. Or maybe it was not sticky enough or too sticky. Who knows? But anyway, he took a nasty spill. Yes. But that wasn't as- And what was the result? No broken bones. I thought he broke his arm. I think it was a severe sprain in his arm. I think he had to sling it. I was going to say he was in a sling. A sling, yeah. Yeah. But I don't think it was broken. But is that as bad- That's got to have some serious road rash. Now, when you talk- Oh, yeah. You're like picking rocks out of your nipples. I've seen that on the internet. You know- That's a category. I have to be honest. When I was about 12, 13 years old, my dad got my brother and I matching BMX bikes. Okay. That was the hot thing then? Yes. Like off-road bikes, except by off-road, they mean sidewalk. Well, no. And he took us to the BMX park. Oh. So we would go there. In the summertime, we would go every single day. Right. Well, one day there was- Did you wear helmets? No. Not then. I know. It's like in the early 80s. Isn't it so cute? We never had helmets. We had seats that faced the wrong way in cars. No. We never wore seat belts. Oh, look at us. No helmets. Drank water out of hoses. Oh, God. All the time. All the time. So there's like a professional guy there one day. He was giving everyone tips. And I had never gone- I bet he was awesome. He might have been dreamy. Yeah. Yeah. Guess what? If you want to see him where he is now, he's still at the BMX park. Probably. Yeah. He's 70 now. Handing out tips. Maybe he owns it. You never know. No, no. He really wasn't a self-starter. He had to go down the hill first. That's right. So he's giving us tips. And I had never gone on the main course. Okay. Because I just didn't. But he was like, I think you can do it. I think you're ready. You were also a young youngster. Right. And I was like the youngest one there. And I was the only girl there. Okay. And he was like, I think you can do it. I think you're ready. I've seen you on the other courses and stuff. Let's. You should do it. So he gives me some tips. I hit that first jump. Right. Went right over the handlebars of my bike. Yeah. Oh, it's bad. Face first into like gravel. Yeah. On the side. And then what stopped me was like a fence pole. Well, you know what? That I hit with my shoulder. I want you to know I only took moderate amount of physics as far as my sciences go. But one thing I do recall. I mean, my science classes were so simple in physics. We like gravity equal 10. Mm-hmm. Because it was easier
